Heidi Watney (born May 19 1981) is an American sportscaster and a reporter for Apple TV+. She graduated from the University of San Diego and has worked as a sportscaster at various stations, including Time Warner Cable SportsNet, New England Sports Network in Boston, Time Warner Cable SportsNet Los Angeles, and two stations here in Fresno. Watney attended Clovis West High School, Fresno. She was a participant in diving and hurdles. [1] She was an National Merit Scholar and attended the University of San Diego on an academic scholarship. There, she graduated with honors in 2003. Watney participated in Miss California USA 2002, where she was first third place. Watney is the cousin of golf professional Nick Watney. [7] Andy Weir, author of The Martian science fiction novel claimed that Watney was his first name, and he created the character Mark Watney from it. He saw her name in a Red Sox broadcast. Watney appears in the music video of Dropkick Murphys ?T single "Going Out in Style". She was also featured as a reporter side-by-side on the games on video MLB The Show 19, MLB The Show20, and MLB The Show 21, respectively. [10]
